Crane Removal
#1
Just wondering how many of you are doing?
When the Ash borer got going here in Michigan a few years back we decided to purchase a crane to deal with all the dead dangerous ones that people leave until they are no longer safe to climb. Many of them cannot even be safely removed from a bucket. Anyway that is what prompted us to purchase a Crane. We now use it for removal more often that not as it doesn't cost much to operate. We have a National 900 with a 24 ft bed to load the trunks into and any other wood the Bandit 1900 won't handle. The boom is a four stage with a 100ft hydraulic reach. The extra height allows you to lift the load up and over most tree tops which makes things much easier. After doing dangerous Tree removal for 30 years, I cannot believe how much easier it is with a Crane. What I love is not getting the big shake and nearly knocked off your spurs when you have to rope down a big piece of trunk wood.
So who has used a Crane, what kind did you use, and do you have any stories to tell good or bad? Tree Pruning
